--- Interesting Facts ---
--> Parineeti wanted to become an investment banker, but after obtaining a triple honours degree
(in business, finance and economics) from Manchester Business School she returned to India during
the 2009 economic recession and joined Yash Raj Films as a public relations consultant, but later
she signed a three-film deal with the company as an actress.
--> In 2009 she returned from London to India in the wake of the economic recession and moved to
Mumbai to stay with her cousin, Priyanka Chopra. During a visit to Yash Raj Films studio, Priyanka (who was
shooting for Pyaar Impossible!) introduced Parineeti to the head of the public relations team of the
company.
--> Ironically, Parineeti had disliked actors and acting; to her, the profession seemed like an excuse
to wear too much makeup. While working and observing actors, however, her perception changed.
She realised that she never understood acting and her respect for the profession increased.
--> While working on promotions for Band Baaja Baaraat, Parineeti realised that she wanted to
become an actress and decided to resign from her executive position with Yash Raj Films to attend
acting school.
--> When Parineeti Chopra told Sharma she was leaving her job to attend acting school he advised
her to meet the company's casting director, who asked her to do a "dummy audition for fun".
Parineeti remembered "fooling around with a camera" and delivering lines by the character Geet from
the film Jab We Met, never expecting producer Aditya Chopra to see the tape. However, when the
producer saw the tape he was impressed with her acting. With Sharma describing her "phenomenal"
in the screen test, she was signed to a three-film deal.
--> In addition to acting in films, Parineeti is active in charity work and supports a number of causes.
Apart from charity work, she serves as an ambassador for a number of brands.

humor. She likes to believe that she has a great sense of humor, so if the guy makes her laugh,
she automatically notice him. Secondly, he needs to let her be herself as she hates when people

--- Personal Quotes ---
"Personally, I’m crazy and I can say and do anything. Professionally, I don’t have the knowhow of
things. There I go by my gut."
"I don’t like clichéd romances. I don’t like the gifts and flowers nonsense. I hate when boys offer to
take me out for dinner. I’ll slap them. I like it simple. You come to my house or I’ll come to your
house and we will sit, watch TV and order pizza."
"When I began my career I was okay eating pizza because the only thing that mattered then was how
I performed. But today I’m part of the glamorous industry. How I look is as important as how I act. No
one likes fat actresses."
"I have been singing ever since I was eight months old. Singing is my biggest passion. I’m a trained
singer in Hindustani classical music."
"I don't think live-in relationships are different from marriage. Today, live-in relationships are more
out of practicality."
"I am an actress. If I get too late at work and if I want to meet my boyfriend, when do I meet him?
Obviously, in the night. If I come back home and sleep in my place, people will say it's not a live-in
relationship. It's all about our perception."
"Whoever is not in a relationship, even there pre-martial sex exists. I myself want to know why it is
different."
"I don't think live-in relationships are different from marriage. Today, live-in relationships are more
out of practicality. My parents are very orthodox, so I may get scared to do this because they will
feel bad. But actually it is fine."
"If I have a hot body, then why not? But right now I don't have the right body. I am still overweight,
so there's no way I can wear a bikini."
"I don't want to restrict myself. I don't know how long will I act, or may be the audience will get bored
of me and then I will not be acting... so (as long as I am in showbiz), I don't want to restrict myself..."
"I find it cooler when one guy is totally committed to one girl. I find that very hot, it's very attractive.
Why do you love your parents so much? Because you know they're together. It's an epiphany of a
true and honest relationship."
"It is my dream that I become a playback singer. I am trained in singing so one day I will certainly
sing."
"Priyanka (Chopra) is a huge inspiration for me... In our family, people have no idea of what scripts
to choose. So the only person from whom I can take an idea is Priyanka. I take all suggestions from
her..."
"I have realised recently that he (an ideal man) has to be a person who understands my life because
an actress' life is really very different. It doesn't matter to me whether he is from the industry or not.
I should be able to share my problems with him and seek his advice. I want him to be my best friend."
"I don't think kissing, pre-marital sex, live-in are bold; they are just very real. They happen. Whether
you are in a live-in relationship or not has notjong to do with premarital sex. You don't have to live
togehter to have sex. According to me, the only bold thing that I've done is smoking a cigarette in
the movie because for me smoking is wrong."
"I had to change my mindset in order to get into the character."
"I will never do a usual film with song and dance, the character has to be important. I don’t want to do
a film where I have a 10-minute role. Till now I have done films where my role is important. If I have
a good script, then I will do it. I just don’t want to be a heroine in the film. There were lots of masala,
action films that I could have done and earned money and roamed around different locations. But I
chose not to do them. Those films have released and… I am glad I did not do them."
"All my life, I wanted to be a banker. I even went abroad and did a Triple Honours course in business,
finance and economics. With all humility, I can say that I’m highly educated. But suddenly, recession
struck, flight tickets to Mumbai became cheaper, I came to Mumbai and never went back. Even though
I had a superstar of a sister (cousin Priyanka Chopra), her career choice never influenced me. In fact,
I believed being a banker was above all - a better profession than acting. But today I feel motivated
to be a good actor."
"Insecurity doesn’t exist in my life. I only think of my life. I don’t know how long I will live. So, till then,
I don’t want to worry."
"There’s no competition. There’s space for everyone to survive. Everyone has their own journey. Yes,
it’s a competitive industry but the competition is more between films than actors. I want my film to do
better than XYZ’s film. Every film of mine should do better than my previous one. There’s no
competition at all amongst the newcomers. We’re all friends."
"I was offered movies with big stars but I had to let go of them because I had nothing to do in the
film. My first love is script, then come the co-actor, director, and producer."
"I have to worry about my appearance. It’s constantly written how badly dressed I am. They are right
because I’ve absolutely no fashion sense and don’t know what looks good on me and what doesn’t.
But I’d like to believe I’m getting better."
"My privacy has gone for a toss. It’s a big sacrifice. I loved visiting malls and walking on the streets.
I can’t do that anymore. Constant scrutiny on my personal life and being linked up with someone or
the other is another drawback."
"I was fat at one point of time. When I started working, my body started getting natural exercise with
the hectic activity. Otherwise I’d just sit in front of the TV and have pizzas. But now, I’m only running
around. So the weight loss is happening automatically."
"I have been a great fan of Kajol myself. And you know what matters the most is that she herself has
complimented me on my work and she told me that she sees herself in me. It's just such an amazing
acknowledgement to your work when the person you admire admires you back."
"Normally it's difficult for someone from outside the industry to understand my work and my crazy
schedules. For example a person, like my dad who lives in Ambala doesn't understand my life. Now he
doesn't mind me romancing heroes on screen but he still doesn't understand my working hours. He
doesn't understand how perfectly normal it is for me to be at work till two in the night. He doesn't
understand night shifts. I need a person who, even if he is not from the industry should at least be
able to understand the life of an actress."
