Note:
This song is based on the tales of 'Lord Krishna', a loved and worshipped Hindu God.
It is a chapter taken from the life of Krishna when he was growing up and in his adolescent age.
Krishna loved to go to the river bank where other women would come and do their daily jobs.
He was the loved one among them all. They used to dance and enjoy while Krishna would do
mischief. These women were referred to as 'Gopis'. There was one Gopi in particular whose name
was 'Radha' who used to love Krishna and Krishna also loved her. He used to do a lot of mischief
with her. And so, in this song Radha is complaining about it to Krishna's mother Yashoda. Lord
Krishna is known by various names such as 'Shyam' because he had dark-complexion & 'Nandlal'
because he was raised by 'Nanda' who was a cow-herder. Krishna also loved to eat freshly prepared
butter and he used to steal it from the homes of people where he lived, so he is often christened
as 'Maakhan Chor' or 'Butter Thief'. Lord Krishna played excellent flute and also had a Peacock
feather on his crown.

Mohe Panghat Pe Nandlal Chhed Gayo Re
Krishna teased me on the river bank
Mori Najuk Kalaiyaa Marod Gayo Re
He came and twisted my delicate wrists
Mohe Panghat Pe...
On the river bank

Kankari Mohe Maari Gagariya Phod Daali

Throwing a pebble, he broke my water pot
Mori Saree Anari Bhigoyi Gayo Re
That novice, made my saree drenched
Mohe Panghat Pe...
On the river bank

Nayno Se Jadoo Kiya Jiyara Moh Liya
He performed magic with his eyes, and took away my heart
Mora Ghoongat Najariya Se Tod Gayo Re
He lifted my veil and he exposed me to his gaze
Mohe Panghat Pe...
On the river bank
